Two sparrows gracefully swoop past my window as I write this note and as of yesterday it is officially summer here in Italy. The air has turned stale and these days, Anna has been busy taking lots of pictures of me and it all feels rather peculiar, in a good way. I do love looking at her pictures because her feminine eye counteracts mine, after all, she is taking pictures of her life and there is no greater teacher than life.

Who said that?

The evening light fades into darkness like shadows underneath a canopy of pines. Summer smells of resin, helichrysum, salt and sun lotion. I hear music, laughter, chatter, cheers and the clinking glasses of joy through a mix of culture from the ages. I see skin that only winter hides. I watch it burn red and glow, then fade to a golden tan. Until the melancholic light of a dimming sun ends each day by collapsing inwardly upon itself, as if it were the very last time it would ever be seen again.

There will be another and another and another, but I will only see so few so many, until tomorrow ceases to exist I will carry on regardless. My obsessive eye will constantly peer through a mirrored view, that is my life, Anna's life, our life and always...LIFE!
